Situated in the heart of Kent, in close proximity to London and Europe, our unique location in Canterbury offers students the opportunity to engage with their fine art practice in a range of local, national and international contexts.
Vocational practice is embedded in our course programmes and student experience. Working locally throughout Kent and the southeast, our students work and collaborate with a number of organisations, including Turner Contemporary, The Creative Foundation, Folkestone Triennial and Folkestone Fringe, Strange Cargo, Stour Valley Arts, Dover Arts Development, Limbo and CRATE amongst others.
These opportunities to work in direct vocational relationship to industry offers a distinctive professional opportunity for study at this level, with potential career destinations including public arts curation and administration, exhibition curation, independent curation, gallery education, gallery management and administration, publishing & journalism, as well as art criticism and writing.
Each year we welcome new artists from around the globe and in recent years we have had students join us from across Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas. As well as students from the UK our current cohort include students from Iran, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Brazil, China, Ireland, Egypt, USA, India, Singapore, Italy, Greece and Malta.
Together, these students and our location in Kent help form a truly cosmopolitan context for studying MA Fine Art and MA Curatorial Practice at UCA Canterbury.
